Bertrand Library commissioned an illumination by artist Susan Ciantar in honor of the 75th anniversary. The work of art features a large letter B with a bison and was completed on calf vellum using traditional materials and techniques including handmade shell gold, raised gilding with gold leaf and pure mineral pigments including lapis lazuli (royal blue color).The piece will be displayed in the Bertrand Library for current and future generations to enjoy.
